Plus Size Winter Coats

This winter I had to give in again and buy myself more warm plus size winter coats to wear because my old plus size coat has had it. Plus size coats used to be hard to shop for. I remember when I bought my last winter jacket four years ago that I had a hard time finding one that I liked. I asked the store clerk about this and she basically said to me that we don’t normally carry too much plus size outerwear because they don’t sell well.

This is what I was told at every store that I went to. I finally had to settle on two plus size winter coats that weren’t too ugly and fit me good enough to wear. I find this interesting. When I went shopping for a plus size coat this season it seemed (to me at least) that there was a much better selection than what there was last time. I found many plus size coats that I liked. In fact it took me a while to choose between four plus size winter coats that I really liked.

Plus size outerwear has been hard for us ladies to like in recent years, and the reason for this is because we aren’t given much selection. When I am wearing something often like a plus size jacket, which in my state is common, I will want something that looks good. But besides of wanting my plus size winter coats to look good, I will want them to fit well and be of great quality. I don’t like settling for anything less than that. In the past, this was a combination that was nearly impossible to find, but as I said before, this year it seems to have changed for the better when it comes to plus size coats.

I wonder why that is. Could it be that the manufactures have discovered what a good market we are? Or could it be because of other newer companies having success in the plus size winter coats market? I vote for the latter, but either way it is good to finally have a selection to choose from and get something of good quality that looks good as well. If you have had the same problem that I have then take a look at the plus size outerwear stores and you may be surprised too. It is no longer as hard to find plus size jackets as it used to be that look good and also feel good. Don’t just take my word for it, take a look yourself and you will see what I mean.

I know I was very glad to go to the mall and see all the plus size coats hanging there and ready for the taking. It felt like I was finally able to choose, and not settle for anything. The thing is that plus size coats in recent years have not offered such a great selection, but this year it seems as though the manufacturers of plus size winter coats are getting the hint to give us what we want.

Not all plus size jackets are made the same way, which happens to be a great thing for us. I’m sure that 20 or 30 years ago the same statement couldn’t be made about plus size outerwear. Secrets To Finding Perfect Plus Size Coats

I’m not afraid to admit that I am plus sized. I actually have a very hard time finding a plus sized coat for winter. But I actually have a great way of overcoming that stress that comes from being plus sized in the first place. It’s not easy having a larger bust size than most women and it’s also not easy to have larger hips than most women. I know many women won’t even admit they are plus sized – it’s a hard fact to over come at times. And when it comes to shopping the hardest thing to find that fits in a plus size coat.

Here’s how I find the perfect jacket for myself; I start with the style I want. I normally look online first and judge the style I want. If I want to wear a long coat all winter long, I look at the different styles and colors that a plus size long coats can come in. If I want a coat that is somewhat puffy and will add to my already large bust size , I will consider one that isn’t so puffy and that can also slim my waist line.

Once I’ve chosen the style, I start to measure myself. This is very important. Because we are plus sized woman we can’t always fit into the normal sizes and it’s very important for a woman that is plus sized to know her measurements. Otherwise you will always get something that is either too small or too big.

Now the secret to finding the perfect plus sized coat is one of two things. You can go the custom route. This means having a seamstress create a one of a kind coat made just for you. This may sound very expensive, but you’d actually be saving money in the long run. You won’t have to search for days or weeks for one of those non-existent perfect plus size coats off the rack. Instead you would go to the seamstress, pick out the style you want (with the help from the internet of course) and have your coat made just for you.

The other option is to alter a coat that is already almost perfect for you. This is a great choice if you find a plus size coat for a great price but it’s a little too tight around your bust area or even around your hips. You can take it to a seamstress and have them loosen the stitches a bit. If the coat is made from normal fabric, you won’t pay as much as you would if you wanted any new custom plus size coats.

For me personally, I choose to have custom plus sized coats made. I also choose to use a faux leather so that my plus sized coats will last a long time. I also have a coat made from a very soft faux fur. The idea is that having it handmade by someone is well worth the cost. I don’t have to deal with the stress of searching nor do I have to deal with the stress of looking at smaller women trying on coats right in front of me.
